It reimburses part of your expenses paid out for medical care and prescriptions.<\/strong> All students are covered except for European students who are holders of an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>French students<\/h2>\n<p><strong>For French students<\/strong>, all health insurance procedures are simplified and entirely cost-free.<\/p>\n<p>As soon as you register at I\u00c9SEG, check your contact details with your Caisse d&#8217;Assurance Maladie and give them your phone number and e- mail address.<\/p>\n<p>When you turn 18, you need to create a personal Ameli account on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameli.fr\/assure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ameli.fr<\/a> or via the Ameli app. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ameli.fr\/assure\/droits-demarches\/principes\/des-vos-18-ans-adoptez-les-bons-reflexes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Learn more on the website Ameli.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is recommended that you get supplementary health insurance in order to be better reimbursed for your healthcare costs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>International students<\/h2>\n<p><strong>On your arrival in France<\/strong>, depending on your nationality, you must <a href=\"https:\/\/etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr\/#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">connect to the <em>S\u00e9curit\u00e9 Sociale<\/em> website<\/a> and provide and upload the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>your new French bank account details (IBAN)<\/li>\n<li>a copy of your passport<\/li>\n<li>a copy of your birth certificate (no need to translate it)<\/li>\n<li>a copy of your school certificate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The registration process will be explained to you during the Welcome Seminars.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>EEA students studying in France are covered by the social security system of their own country. However, it is mandatory for students from other countries to register to the student social security system scheme in order to benefit from the same protection as the French students. Learn more on the website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etudiant.gouv.fr\/en\/social-security-your-medical-expenditure-coverage-217\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.etudiant.gouv.fr<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>What is the student social security scheme?<\/h3>\n<p>The student social security scheme covers student healthcare: it reimburses part of the expenses paid for medical care and prescriptions.<\/p>\n<p>Is enrollment to a student social security scheme mandatory for foreign students? It depends on the student\u2019s nationality.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"big-list\">\n<li><strong>Students from an EEA country or Switzerland<\/strong>: who have a European health insurance card or private insurance do not need to register to the French student social security scheme.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other EU countries, including Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway<\/strong> are covered by the social security system of their own country.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Students from other countries<\/strong> must subscribe to the French student social security scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We also strongly encourage students to have international insurance, covering them for travel, lost luggage, repatriation, and civil liability.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Medical rules for international students studying in France<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The French government has implemented a law and a medical process mandatory for all new incoming international students<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Before their arrival, international students must fill in a <a href=\"https:\/\/welcome.ieseg.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/MedicalForm-UniversiteCatholiqueLille.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">medical form<\/a> with their general practitioner (doctor) declaring that they don\u2019t have any contagious diseases nor any contraindication preventing them from leaving to do academic studies at I\u00c9SEG.<br \/>\nThis medical form (<strong>sent by email and also <a href=\"https:\/\/welcome.ieseg.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2025\/11\/MedicalForm-UniversiteCatholiqueLille.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available here<\/a><\/strong>) must also include the dates of the students\u2019 vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>The form must be sent <strong>as soon as possible<\/strong> by email to our Health Center (CPSU \u2013 <a href=\"mailto:cpsu@all-lacatho.fr\">cpsu@all-lacatho.fr<\/a>) where it will be reviewed by an official general practitioner\/doctor. Depending on the situation, the CPSU Health Center may call students for a medical check. This medical check will not affect your admission to I\u00c9SEG, it is for public health purposes only. CPSU will inform us about the forms received at the beginning of the semester. If your form is missing, you will be required to have a compulsory medical examination in France (and pay related fees).
